Golf and disc golf
The Golden Gate Park Golf Course is a short nine-hole, par-27 course in the northwest corner near 47th Avenue and Fulton Street, good for beginners and a quick round; green fees are lower for San Francisco residents. The free 18-hole disc golf course in Marx Meadow, built and maintained by volunteers, starts near JFK Drive just west of Transverse Drive.
Tennis and pickleball
The Lisa and Douglas Goldman Tennis Center, rebuilt in 2021 near the Haight Street end of the park, has about 17 tennis courts plus dedicated pickleball courts, lessons and a clubhouse. Court fees apply and reservations are made online through the operator.
Lawn bowling, fly casting and archery
The San Francisco Lawn Bowling Club has bowled on its greens near Bowling Green Drive since 1901 and welcomes newcomers to learn. The Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club practices fly casting at the pools beside its 1938 Anglers Lodge in the west end, and the archery field near the golf course is open for practice with your own equipment.
Fields, tracks and a stadium
Kezar Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers from 1946 to 1970, now hosts high school football, soccer and a public running track. The Polo Field in the middle of the park has a cycling and running oval and hosts festivals; the Beach Chalet soccer fields sit near the ocean. Model yacht racing on Spreckels Lake rounds out the list.
