A first visit in one day

Our one-day itinerary starts at the Conservatory of Flowers, spends midday at the Music Concourse, climbs Strawberry Hill in the afternoon and ends with sunset at Ocean Beach.

A half day in the museum and garden cluster

With only a morning or afternoon, follow our half-day plan: the Japanese Tea Garden at opening, one museum, a walk through the free gardens and the Conservatory.

Ride from the park to the ocean

Our bike route to Ocean Beach covers about 3.5 miles each way along the car-free JFK Promenade and JFK Drive, past lakes, the bison and the Dutch Windmill.

Adjust for fog, crowds and closures

Swap the order when fog is thick in the west, and keep museums for the coldest part of the day. Check hours and admission for closures, especially on Mondays and Wednesdays, and look at our events calendar before choosing a festival weekend.

Which plan fits you

First visit and a full day: the one-day itinerary. Short on time or traveling with grandparents: the half-day plan, which keeps walking short. Active travelers: the bike route to Ocean Beach. Families can mix the half day with the playground and carousel and our guide for kids.
